Duty Station : WWF- Pakistan’s Regional Office, Karachi 

Work Week : 5 days (Monday to Friday) 40 hrs / week 

Work Hours : 0830 hrs to 1715 hrs

General Terms of Reference 

The position will supervise projects in Sindh and coastal Balochistan and oversee development and  implementation of field level activities in the region. S(he) will assist in providing strategic direction to the  organization in Sindh and Balochistan and ensure compliance with the overall mission of the organization. The  incumbent will interact with the relevant stakeholders and will oversee the project activities on ground and  help build partnerships to promote the mission / work of the organization. The position will assist in enhancing 

both restricted and unrestricted funding for WWF-Pakistan by contributing towards building strong working  relationships with existing & potential donors. It will include leading and managing a team of programme staff,  providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure effective delivery of the existing portfolio. Ensure their  targets are met against the agreed deliverables, agreed technical and financial reports are being submitted to  the donors on a regular basis and under-spending issues are addressed effectively. Finally, s/he will ensure  financial sustainability of the Sindh and Balochistan regions in collaboration with Senior Directors/SMT, Practice  Teams and Programme Development Team 

Specific Terms of Reference  

1. Take the lead in developing and building the Conservation Programme of WWF Pakistan in collaboration with  other programmes/practice focal points/community of practice with a specific focus on the marine and Indus  Ecoregion Programme  

2. Develop multi-year projects/initiatives in Sindh and Balochistan with a specific focus on the Indus Ecoregion; also assist in securing the resources necessary for these initiatives and ensure their effective and efficient implementation 

3. Contribute in enhancing both restricted and unrestricted funding for WWF-Pakistan which will entail liaising with current and potential donors and ensuring that WWF-Pakistan’s priorities and resource needs are incorporated into the objectives and budgets of key donors 

4. Maintain positive working relationships with targeted online, print and broadcast journalists, editorial writers  and columnists to enhance the conservation efforts of WWF-Pakistan and highlight compelling stories from the  field that promotes WWF-Pakistan’s conservation effort within and outside the WWF network

5. Contribute in developing and implementing a robust and efficient system for measuring progress against Roadmap 2030 and assessing the impact of WWF-Pakistan’s conservation activities, providing real-time  information for use both internally and externally. 

6. Represent WWF-Pakistan at relevant regional, national and international dialogue to highlight priority  conservation issues, create a favorable image of the organization and promote its efforts and position on  various conservation issues. 

7. Liaison with the relevant stakeholders including field level partners and local governments and help build partnerships to enhance the mission/work of the organization and maintain close strategic and sustained  working relationships within the WWF network. 

Education, Experience & Working Knowledge 

1. A Master’s degree in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, Conservation Biology, Social  Sciences or in relevant subject 

2. At least 7-9 years’ experience in the relevant fields (depending on grade)  

3. Experience of working in a multicultural / multinational environment 

4. Excellent knowledge of the global and/or regional conservation arena, key players, and policy processes;  Strong commitment to conservation and development issues 

5. Specialization in developing log frames, work plans, monitoring frameworks established through relevant  work experience

Position Specific Attributes 

• Proven experience and leadership ability in achieving conservation outcomes 

• Demonstrated ability to raise large funding for conservation initiatives; familiarity with funding agencies,  especially the World Bank, Government Aid Agencies and corporate sector 

• Demonstrated ability in development, management and delivery of nature conservation projects; (ability  to effectively manage and supervise people and projects and to plan, schedule and budget projects /  initiatives)

• Ability in policy advocacy on sustainable resource management / nature conservation issues at national and  international level 

• Demonstrated ability to enter complex policy, programme and funding partnerships with a range of  stakeholders and partners 

• Demonstrated ability in leading both field and office-based team(s) 

• Proficiency in local languages 

• Demonstrated ability in leading both field and office-based team(s) 

• A willingness to travel to remote field sites and to work in harsh conditions and physical fitness to work for  extended periods in a challenging physical and social environment,
