Job Purpose:
To engage, mobilize, and empower flood-affected communities to participate in relief and recovery activities, ensuring vulnerable groups (women, children, elderly, PWDs) are prioritized and humanitarian principles are upheld.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Community Engagement & Needs Assessment
- Conduct door-to-door visits, focus group discussions (FGDs), and community meetings to identify needs and vulnerabilities.
- Map and report on affected households, damaged infrastructure, and at-risk groups.
- Ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive participation in all activities.
2. Awareness & Behavior Change Campaigns
- Organize sessions on:
✓ Hygiene promotion (WASH) – Safe water use, handwashing, sanitation
✓ Disaster preparedness – Early warning signs, evacuation plans
✓ Protection issues – GBV prevention, child safeguarding, PWD inclusion - Distribute IEC materials (posters, leaflets) in Pashto/Urdu.
3. Beneficiary Registration & Feedback
- Assist in targeting and verification of beneficiaries for relief distributions (NFIs, cash, shelter kits).
- Establish and manage community feedback mechanisms (complaint boxes, hotlines).
- Ensure transparency and accountability in aid distribution.
4. Coordination & Reporting
- Liaise with local authorities, NGOs, and community leaders.
- Submit daily/weekly field reports on mobilization progress and challenges.
- Document success stories and lessons learned.
Emergency-Specific Tasks:
- Support rapid needs assessments (RNAs) within 24-72 hours of flooding.
- Mobilize community volunteer teams for first response (evacuation, relief distribution).
- Identify and refer critical protection cases (GBV, unaccompanied children) to specialized services.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Education: Intermediate (FA/FSc) required; Bachelor’s in Social Sciences preferred.
- Experience:
- 2+ years in community mobilization, social work, or emergency response (NGO/INGO preferred).
- Experience working in flood/earthquake responses in KP.
- Skills:
- Fluency in Pashto (mandatory) and Urdu (required).
- Strong facilitation, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Preferred:
- Training in CHAST (Children’s Hygiene and Sanitation Training), PHAST (Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation).
- Knowledge of cash-based interventions (CBI).
- Extensive field travel (often on foot/motorcycle in difficult terrain).
- Flexible hours (may include evenings/weekends during emergencies).
