Job Purpose:
To provide essential primary healthcare services, emergency medical response, and health outreach to flood-affected communities in KP, ensuring timely and quality care for injuries, communicable diseases, and common health issues in line with humanitarian standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Emergency Medical Care
- Provide first aid and trauma care for injuries related to flooding (e.g., wounds, fractures, near-drowning).
- Manage cases of waterborne diseases (e.g., diarrhea, cholera, typhoid) and vector-borne diseases (malaria, dengue).
- Support referral systems for critical cases to nearby health facilities.
- Assist in emergency childbirth and basic antenatal/postnatal care as needed.
2. Mobile Health Services
- Conduct daily mobile medical camps in hard-to-reach flood-affected villages.
- Dispense prescribed medicines and provide health education on:
✓ Safe water use and sanitation
✓ Acute respiratory infection prevention
✓ Maternal and child health practices - Maintain patient records and ensure data accuracy.
3. Disease Surveillance & Reporting
- Screen and report suspected outbreak-prone diseases (e.g., cholera, measles) to the Medical Officer.
- Collect and submit daily health data (e.g., patient consultations, disease trends) for WHO/HDSS reporting.
- Support rapid needs assessments in new flood-affected sites.
4. Community Health Outreach
- Engage community health workers (LHWs, volunteers) in health promotion activities.
- Distribute IEC materials (posters, leaflets) on disease prevention in Pashto/Urdu.
- Identify and refer malnourished children to nutrition programs.
5. Medical Logistics
- Manage medical supplies, ensuring stock availability and proper storage.
- Monitor medicine expiration dates and request replenishments promptly.
Emergency-Specific Tasks:
- Participate in rapid response teams for immediate health needs post-flash floods.
- Support vaccination campaigns (e.g., typhoid, tetanus) as required.
- Assist in setting up and managing ** diarrhea treatment centers (DTCs)** if needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Education: Diploma in Paramedical Sciences (DPT/EMT) or related field from a recognized institution.
- Certification: Valid certification from PCP/PMDC (if applicable).
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical settings or emergency response.
- Experience in mobile medical camps or humanitarian health programs.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in basic life support (BLS) and emergency care.
- Ability to diagnose and manage common illnesses and injuries.
- Fluency in Pashto (mandatory) and Urdu.
Preferred:
- Training in WHO emergency health kits usage.
- Experience with disease surveillance systems.
- Knowledge of SPHERE standards and MISP (Minimum Initial Service Package for SRH).
Working Conditions:
- Extensive field travel (often on difficult terrain due to flood damage).
- Long and flexible hours during emergency peaks.
- Exposure to health risks; strict adherence to infection prevention protocols required.
