Job Description:
A USAID-funded project is seeking HTL Triage Officers to be placed within secondary and tertiary care hospitals. The role focuses on implementing the Hospital TB Linkage (HTL) strategy, ensuring effective identification and management of TB cases, and collaborating with hospital/health authorities to align with project goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Triage Officer will be primarily responsible for implementing the Hospital TB Linkage (HTL) strategy. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordination and Patient Identification:
- Collaborate with heads of departments and outpatient department (OPD) staff across all specialities to identify TB presumptive cases.
- Ensure timely referral and linkage of TB presumptive cases from OPDs and in-patient departments to the DOTS centre for screening and management.
- Patient Registration and Data Management:
- Coordinate with the TB Basic Management Units (TBMUs) staff to ensure all TB patients are accurately registered and recorded in the relevant recording & reporting tools.
- Maintain electronic records of registered TB patients using the HDL App for efficient data management.
- Committee Liaison and Meetings:
- Regularly coordinate with members of the HTL Committee, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Organize HTL Committee meetings, initially on a monthly basis for the first six months, transitioning to quarterly meetings thereafter.
- Prepare and disseminate minutes of HTL Committee meetings to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaboration with Peripheral Facilities:
- Facilitate coordination with peripheral TBMUs for seamless patient referrals, registration and treatment initiation using the HDL App.
- Patient Counseling and Education:
- Provide counselling to bacteriologically positive TB patients, emphasizing the importance of household contact screening and preventive treatment.
- Stakeholder Liaison:
- Maintain effective communication with field teams and government TBMUs in the assigned geographical area.
- Participation in District-Level Meetings:
- Actively participate in quarterly district TB program review meetings, contributing insights and updates from the hospital-level implementation of the HTL strategy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in health or social sciences.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Skills:
- Basic IT and data management skills.
- Strong communication, reporting, counselling, and organizational abilities.
- Coordination and liaison-building capabilities.
