Position summary

The Program & Research Coordinator - Litigation is responsible for managing the operational, programmatic, and monitoring components of litigation-related activities at LAS. The role ensures effective coordination across departments, maintains litigation data systems, supports reporting and donor compliance, and contributes to visibility and strategic litigation support. This position does not involve court representation or legal drafting.

Key responsibilities

1. Case Management System (CMS) & Tracking

  • Maintain and regularly update litigation case databases and dashboards.
  • Ensure smooth functioning of CMS and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Coordinate with IT for system improvements and issue resolution.

2. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare timely donor reports in line with required formats and indicators.
  • Support audit, monitoring, and internal review documentation.
  • Develop quarterly Litigation Newsletters highlighting key outcomes and case updates.

3. Coordination & Program Management

  • Ensure implementation of litigation work plans aligned with program objectives.
  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly review meetings with legal teams.
  • Liaise with Finance, M&E, Program, and Communications teams for integrated delivery.
  • Manage litigation calendars, schedules, and compliance submissions.
  • Act as focal person for litigation components during Legal Aid Camps (planning, logistics, budgeting, execution).

4. Outreach & Visibility

  • Draft fortnightly litigation success stories for external visibility.
  • Coordinate with Communications team for social media and visibility content.
  • Support “Legal Lens” series and other digital communication outputs.
  • Contribute monthly content for litigation newsletters and updates.

5. High Court & Strategic Litigation Support

  • Maintain updated records of High Court strategic litigation cases.
  • Provide coordination, documentation, and research support for strategic litigation.
  • Assist Litigation Manager in case tracking and preparation support.

6. Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by senior leadership related to litigation, research, or program needs.

Requirements

Education

  • LLB required

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in project coordination, monitoring, or related roles
  • Experience in stakeholder coordination preferred

Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Advanced legal research and drafting ability
  • Legal data reporting and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with digital communications and social media tools

Knowledge
