The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) is a non-profit organization established by Aga Khan Foundation in 1982 to help improve the quality of life of the local communities in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.  AKRSP operates across all 10 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, two districts of Chitral in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and two districts of Sindh. Its main focus areas include Agriculture & Food Security, Climate Resilience, Civil Society, Work & Enterprise, Education, Early Childhood Development (ECD), and Health & Nutrition.

AKRSP is seeking applications from high caliber professionals for the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) based at AKRSP’s Head Office Gilgit.

Job Purpose:

Overseeing program implementation by regional program managers, and project managers. Representing the organization at various forums/donor agencies/Govt Officials etc. in absence of the General Manager/CEO.

Job Description: 

  • Work with senior management (Regional Program Manager & Project Managers) on program implementation, achieving program targets and goals.
  • Oversee and supervise regional program managers, administration /procurement and project managers to ensure efficient delivery of results in program implementation and achieving required targets/goals within timelines.
  • Represent the organization at various forums/donor agencies/Govt Officials etc.  and in stakeholders, partners, and other meetings
  • Provide required input to inform decisions the organization makes related to program and any other functions. 
  • Adhere to the organization’s culture of encouraging participation, learning and promoting initiative in staff
  • Assist in developing strategies and programs.
  • Provide necessary information/support to facilitate the internal/external audit and compliances related to programs.
  • Assist senior management in future program development
  • Oversee day to day operations of office and assist General Manager/CEO in improving overall performance of the organization.
  • Act on behalf of General Manager/CEO during his/her absence.

Required Experience: Relevant managerial experience of minimum 10 years in a dynamic, responsive environment that requires flexibility and multi-tasking.

Education: Master’s degree in Management, Social Sciences or any related field

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively

  • Highly skilled at staff management, coaching, and development
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
