REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

Procurement of Medical Assistive Devices

Friends Welfare Association (FWA), a non-profit, non-governmental organization having its main office in Mansehra, hereby invites sealed proposal/ bids from qualified, reputable, and eligible specialized vendors / suppliers, dealing in medical / surgical items, for the provision of Assistive Devices for children identified through disability screenings conducted under the ILMpact Education and Inclusion Programme in District Mansehra and District Battagram.

Background

Under this initiative, FWA conducted comprehensive medical and disability screenings of 10,722 students in 50 girls’ primary schools across two districts — District Mansehra (38 schools) and District Battagram (12 schools), covering *Eye / Ophthalmology, *ENT / Audiology and *Physical / Orthopedic Disabilities.

The objective of the screening exercise was to ensure early identification of children with potential functional limitations, facilitate timely referrals, and provide appropriate support through systematic screening and the provision of assistive devices. This approach contributes to the creation of inclusive and supportive learning environments within schools.

As a result of the screening process, 394 children were identified as requiring Assistive Devices based on preliminary findings. These devices include vision aids, hearing aids, orthopedic supports, mobility aids, and other medically recommended assistive products.

It is important to note that the initial screenings were indicative in nature and did not include detailed clinical examinations or final prescriptions. Prior to provision of assistive devices, these children require final investigation and prescription to make sure the suitability and specification of devices.

Scope

Through this procurement, Friends Welfare Association aims to procure desired Medical Assistive Devices and ensure that all prescribed assistive devices are safe, child-appropriate, and of acceptable quality, and are delivered in a timely manner to support children’s mobility, learning, and participation in schools, in compliance with applicable regulatory and quality standards.

The selected vendor shall be responsible for the provision of Assistive Devices listed above after final medical assessment and verification of devices, size and quality parameters, for the identified cases (394 students) from 50 target schools across two districts — District Mansehra (38 schools) and District Battagram (12 schools).
